Baudains, Gerard

8.jpgName: Gerard Baudains
Age: 61
Address: Glen-Moor, Le Vieux Chemin, St. Clement
Family: Two teenage children
Education: Victoria College, Farnbouough Tech college, etc. Eight O-Levels and various engineering qualifications
Occupation: Engineer and States Member
Hobbies/interests: Boating, motor racing, target shooting

Election platform:
I have served St. Clement as Deputy for ten years and worked on many parish issues – opposing rezoning fields for development, making submissions regarding inappropriate development, addressing problems with drains, pavements or compost smells – to name just a few. I have responded to all parishioners who have asked for my assistance, and worked closely with the parish administration and our honorary police during that period.

If elected, my first priorities will be to make the parish hall and its administration once again the heart of the parish and keep parishioners better informed regarding issues affecting the parish. Other considerations are lack of progress with sheltered housing, lack of infrastructure and amenities for the youth of our parish and lack of volunteers for our Honorary police. I would be at the parish hall at least one day per week to enable any parishioner with issues he or she wished to discuss with the connetable to do so.

Proposers: Maurice Etienne, Graham Carpenter, Malcolm Ahier, Michael Allo, Charles Paling, Ian Cutter, Jennifer McMullon, George Gaudin, Edith Franklin, Graeme Bree.

Nomination speech:
Maurice Etienne, who proposed Gerard Baudains, said that he had lived in the parish virtually all of his life and had lengthy business experience. Mr Etienne said that during the last ten years Mr Baudains had served the parish well as Deputy, whether promoting parish issues in the States, helping parishioners with their problems or being active at parish assemblies. He had always worked closely with the honorary police and, if elected, he intended making the parish hall the heart of the parish once again.
