St Helier
THERE will be no election for Constable in St Helier.
SittingĀ Constable Simon Crowcroft is one of three who chose not to seek re-election in the autumn elections.
All 12 Constables agreed initially to step down, but only on the basis of having their terms extended to four years. When the States reversed that decision last year, Mr Crowcroft and the Constables of Grouville and St John changed their minds.
Mr Crowcroft was first elected to the States as a Deputy of St Helier No 2 District in 1996 He was elected as Constable in December 2001 defeating sitting Constable Bob Le Brocq.
He was re-elected unopposed in December 2004, and defeated challenger Alvin Aaron to retain his seat in January this year.
