Main concerns
We need to resolve the problems of traffic density and speed and to find a way of creating a real parish centre. We need to ensure that any future development is on a much smaller scale than Goose Green and not on green-field sites.

Main concerns
I remain concerned about any significant green-field development in the parish and this will continue to be a challenge, particularly with the present review of the Island Plan. I am pleased to have encouraged the imminent introduction of traffic-calming measures outside schools in the parish. However, more work needs to be done to improve safety in other areas of the parish. A particular challenge will be minimising the effects of the expected increase in the volume of traffic filtering down our main ‘artery’ roads from large developments under construction in the area and further west.

Main concerns
There are few issues which concern me at a parish level, other than to prevent further development of green-field sites, such as the development at Goose Green, and to introduce suitable traffic calming measures in sensitive areas around the parish. I believe that St Lawrence has been run extremely well in the past, and under our new Constable, Deidre Mezbourian, I do not see that we have anything to fear going forward. St Lawrence has a strong community base which can resolve issues as and when they surface, be they of a minor or major nature.

Main concerns
The speed and volume of traffic is a big concern of St Lawrence’s electorate. With my environmental credentials, I have probably the strongest motivation to work towards solving this, but the really effective solutions will need the commitment of the whole Island to achieve. People are really concerned about further building on green-field sites – the Goose Green Marsh development is still causing a lot of resentment. I am firmly against any more fields being lost, or greenhouses, because we will need every inch of fertile land for local food security in the relatively near future.
