The main celebration of the Island’s complex history is Battle of Britain Week organised by the RAF Association, the highlight of which is the International Air Display.
The display includes a Memorial Flight of famous planes such as Lancasters, Dakotas, Spitfires and Hurricanes over St Aubin’s Bay as well as some breath-taking aerial stunts from the Red Arrows.
The aircraft can be viewed close-up on the ground at Jersey Airport and People’s Park, and as the organisers get planes that are not normally seen in the UK, they are well worth a look. The event has been described as one of the best in Europe and helps to raise funds for the Royal Air Force Association - Wings Appeal.
The Jersey Evening Post photographers are always in the best position to capture the event.
