Births & deaths
Births
The birth of every child born in the Island must be registered with the registrar of the parish in which the birth takes place. This must be done within 21 days of the birth.
After 21 days, but within six months of the birth, registration may be effected with the consent of the Superintendent Registrar on the payment of a late registration fee. After six months, registration can only be made by an Order of the Royal Court.
Registration is free but a full birth certificate costs £10 and a short form certificate costs £5.
For more information, contact the Office of the Superintendent Registrar at 441335.
Deaths
All deaths must be registered with the registrar of the parish in which the death takes place within five days of the event. The registration period is extended if a post mortem examination or an inquest is ordered.
The registration is free but a death certificate, obtainable from the registrar of the parish, costs £10. For more information, contact the Office of the Superintendent Registrar at 441335.
