MORE and more businesses are joining the Genuine Jersey Products Association, according to its chairman, Hamish Marett-Crosby.

He was speaking after four businesses were accepted as members at the November management committee meeting of the association.

he new members are: Aurum Jewellers of Charing Cross, St Helier, for a set of silver parish table and teaspoons; beekeeper André Militis of Trinity for his Jersey honey; Tipsy Toad Brewery in St Peter for three of its ales, and Melanie Drummond of Rue de la Maitrerie, St Saviour, for her home-made range of Jersey chutneys and preserves, ‘Jersey Provender’.

r Marett-Crosby said that the association now had members who between them produce such diverse items as creative stonework, furniture, wine, milk, pottery and jewellery, all of which carried the Genuine Jersey branding.

Since the appointment of Catherine Vint as marketing co-ordinator in September, the profile of the association had continued to rise.

He added that there were at least two more local businesses applying for membership which would be considered before the end of the year.

he Genuine Jersey Products Association was established in June 2001 by a group of local organisations as a non-profit making association to draw attention to and promote those products which are produced in Jersey and thus can be regarded by visitors and residents alike as being genuinely ‘local’.
