ST Clement Deputy Gerard Baudains is making a last-ditch attempt to reduce the impact of Island Plan homes on his parish.
Having failed in July 2002 to convince the States not to rezone Field 203 and parts of Fields 204 and 252, Rue de Jambart – and two other St Clement sites – for housing, the Deputy now wants the size of the development to be limited to 45 three-bedroom homes, instead of the 75 applied for by Alpine Estates. His projet comes just as plans for the first-time buyer homes, and related proposals for social rental housing on the former Hodge Nursery site near Le Marais flats, are due for consideration by the Planning Committee. In response, Planning have rejected all aspects of the Deputy’s argument.
