New Year honours for four Islanders

FOUR Islanders have been recognised in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List for a wide range of services to the community and, in one case, in war-torn countries.
Peter Le Sueur has been made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire for services to mine clearance, especially in Afghanistan.Two residents have been made Members of the Order: Dr Margaret Bruce, of Route de la Trinité, for services to the medical profession, and Eric Blakeley , Everest climber, Channel swimmer and journalist, for services to mountaineering, sport and charity in Jersey.Recently retired deputy chief of police Roly Jones has been awarded the Queen’s Police Medal.
