Serious sexual assault on girl

A 14-year-old girl was the victim of an alleged serious sexual assault on Green Island on Tuesday night.

The police have arrested a man in his 60s who has been released pending further inquiries.They are appealing for witnesses who saw the pair walking near La Mare slipway before the incident between 6 and 7 pm.

The girl met the man at the slipway and they walked to Green Island together.Anyone who saw them is asked to contact Det Sgt Peter Barney on 612612 or call the Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
