Strategic aims ‘look like spin’
Monday 5th January 2004, 12:00AM GMT.
THE Strategic Aims report and discussion paper comes across as a jumble of PR, spin and Blairite language, according to Senator Christopher Lakeman.
The Privileges and Procedures Committee president said that although the thinking behind the process leading up to the Strategic Plan – which includes Imagine Jersey events and reviews by senior politicians and civil servants – was sound, there were major flaws with the way the data had been presented.’There is a danger that if an exercise like this is handled badly we will disconnect even more with people,’ he said.’What we have here is buzz words used with spin words or Blair-like language, and I am afraid that is how this report comes across.’ The Senator added that the 100-page report which was published on Tuesday would be inaccessible to most readers, and hoped that it would be more widely distributed for the public to digest its contents.
