GROUVILLE maintained their unbeaten record in flybe.
Combination Division II with a 2-1 home win against St Brelade on Saturday.
But the hosts left it late to take the three points, Martyn White netting in the last couple of minutes to make it nine wins in ten divisional games for Ian Horswell’s team.Ben Holt had earlier sequalised for Grouville after Ian Crocker had nodded the visitors in front.
Grouville’s win moves them eight points ahead of second-placed St Ouen while fifth-placed St Brelade remain seven points adrift of second spot.A brace of goals from Dotun Doherty and Tony Courval’s single secured Grouville a 3-0 win away to St Peter and top spot in Division I Reserves.Previous leaders Trinity slipped into second place, where they are joined by Jersey Scottish, after they were beaten 1-0 at home by Jersey Wanderers.Goran Mickovski netted Wanderers’ goal while the Scots returned with a point from Clos des Pauvres following a 1-1 draw against St Paul’s.
Steve Langan hit the target for Scottish and Richard Cousins for St Paul’s.First Tower and St Clement are now fourth and fifth respectively after both won home games 3-1.Neil Hacquoil shot St Brelade, who are now six games without a win, ahead at La Hague Manor only for the Tower to respond with two goals from Colin Roworth and one by Kevin Mitchell.St Clement, who hit the woodwork three times, avenged a 3-1 defeat in the first game of the season against St John with goals from Wayne Shales, Liam Whelan and Nelson De Castro.
St John, who made it 1-1, replied through Ben Whitley.Magpies maintained their 100 per cent record to move 11 points clear at the top of Division II Reserves.
Goals at Les Quennevais from Matt Pamplin (two), Neil Spacie and Paul Cilia secured the divisional leaders a 4-1 win against St Martin, the Saints gaining their consolation through Anton Daly.Just two points separate four clubs chasing the runners-up spot – Rozel Rovers, who were without a game and who have two games in hand, Sporting Academics, the Portuguese Club and St Ouen.The only winners were St Ouen, 3-2 against Portuguese at Les Quennevais.
Lee Pederick, Gary Burbedge and Shane Carré netted for the Saints and Bruno Freitas and Ricardo Varela for Portuguese.Beeches Old Boys had a say in all five goals in a 3-2 win against Sporting Academics at the FB Fields.
Chris Swanton (two) and Alan Dunne scored in the right net while Old Boys defender Peter Le Cuirot got the last touch to efforts from Sean Doran and Ged Horgan.St Lawrence moved out of bottom place after they won for the first time this season, 4-0 against Sporting Club.
The latter drop to the bottom after they conceded goals to Tom Gibb, Jonathon Buesnel, Keith McSorley and Phillip Gaudin.The only game in the C Division resulted in St Brelade and Sporting Academics sharing six goals at St Brelade.
Rab Campbell, Neil Sharman and Carlton McKain were on target for the hosts, the Accies replying with two goals from Dave Harrison, who has appealed against his recent sending off against Portuguese, and Dave Robinson.
