CHANNEL Islands champions First Tower opened up a nine-point lead at the top of Lloyds TSB Junior League under-18 Division I after romping to victory against Grouville on Sunday morning – despite the match being abandoned.
Tower won 10-0 with the game being forfeited by Grouville after 55 minutes as a result of an ambulance being called to take injured Island midfielder Peter Vincenti to the General Hospital. It was thought Vincenti had broken a leg but it was later found out that he had suffered severe bruising.Champions Tower maintained their 100 per cent record from seven league games following goals by Ryan Durand (three), Vincenti (two), Daniel Parry (two), Bradley Russell (two) and Ben Ahier.Rozel Rovers’ games were all postponed as a mark of respect to under-18 player Mark Jowett.
