15km road race: McGarry pushes leading men

JO McGarry was the first woman home and third overall in the Vowden Sports 15km road race from Longbeach to First Tower last Sunday.

She finished in 58 min 03sec, competing with the leading men for the top places.

Nick Gorrod (M40) won in 57.13 and senior Jon Coote was second in 57.58.

Forty-four runners completed the race along the coast road, facing a strong wind at times and the odd hail shower.Other category winners were Peter Le Couilliard (M50), 58.31; and Sarah Corcoran (W35) and Sue Le Ruez (W45), 1.08.20.The race was the fourth of six in the Vowden Sports road series, being organised by the RBC Jersey Spartan Athletic Club.
