Uproar at Sky TV charging policy

SKY customers in the Channel Islands are appalled and disgusted that they are paying more for the TV service than people in the UK.

On Friday the JEP’s Fair Play revealed that Sky users in the Channel Islands were being overcharged for their monthly subscriptions.Scores of e-mails, calls, letters and faxes have been received over the weekend, with some customers actually cancelling their subscriptions to the service.

Others e-mailed and called Sky on Friday and Saturday demanding explanations.A directive by the European Union ruled that Sky should stop charging customers VAT in the Channel Islands from July 2003.

The multi-million-pound company did stop charging VAT, but kept their monthly prices the same, so customers in Jersey and Guernsey have not seen any benefit from the official scrapping of the VAT.
