Fencing:Our man with the golden blade

KEVIN Lees is the proud owner of a gold medal from the recent National Veterans Fencing Championships.
He was one of the youngest veterans taking part – Lees is a mere 41 years of age – and his performance at Milton Keynes placed him 17th overall from 43 competitors and earned him the epée gold in the 40-49 age-group.’Now that I have a gold medal I’ll be defending my title next time round,’ he said.A member of the Regent Fencing Club, Lees has competed at Commonwealth, national and local level, and may be seen in swashbuckling action at Elizabeth Castle during the summer months as a part of the living history performances put on for visitors.
