Boxing:Four target ABA championship runs this year

FOUR Leonis Amateur Boxing Club members are currently training hard in preparation for assaults on ABA titles in the next few months.
Light welterweight Sean Durkin will be the first of the quartet to step into the ring at the Irish Intermediate Championship in Dublin two weeks today.
Durkin will compete at the famous Dublin Stadium on Friday 6 February and if successful he will face his next opponent the following evening.A second victory will secure Durkin further action the following weekend, again with the prospect of bouts on the Friday and Saturday nights.
The final takes place at the same venue on Saturday 20 February.Leonis colleagues Paul Young, a light middleweight, and Les Bulpin, a bantam weight, will challenge for senior ABA championships while Dave Lund will have his second attempt at the super heavyweight crown.All are training hard towards achieving their goals with Durkin having had some quality sparring, together with Ben Murray who is being held back another year, at Salisbury ABC in Liverpool.
Lund has also had quality sparring sessions in the north-east of England as part of his build up.Young, Bulpin and Lund, who the ABA quarter-final stage last year, begin their quests for titles at the Western Counties ABA Championship at Devonport, Plymouth, on Saturday 14 February.
