Sigma puts Collins and Officemaker together
Wednesday 28th January 2004, 12:00AM GMT.
THE Sigma Group has announced the merger of OfficeMaker Jersey with the Collins division of the Group.
The deal makes OfficeMaker, the office furniture and stationery supplier, a subsidiary of the Sigma Group which already includes Collins, CDP Sigma, Dataview and Sigma Aztec in Guernsey.
Robert Sillars, the chief executive of the Sigma Group, said: ‘The complementary activities of the two operations will be more effectively managed through a single business line, hence the joining of forces.
‘We shall be seeking some business efficiencies as a result of the merger arrangements so as to offer the more proactive customer services necessary in today’s marketplace.
We are not, however, anticipating any job losses’ Sigma chairman Martyn Scriven said the merger would act as an enabler or catalyst for further strong growth in the underlying businesses.
‘Although the economic climate is somewhat uncertain we view the prospects for the enlarged group, our staff and shareholders, positively.
‘We will continue to progress and build upon the business improvements already achieved over the last twelve months,’ he added.
