JEC to consider piping water from France

THE JEC will consider laying a pipe to France to import water if their takeover of the water company goes ahead.
The company say that they will look at radical solutions to solve the Island’s water supply problem – and if a pipeline is better for the environment and more cost-effective than extending existing reservoirs, they will do it.The JEC are still waiting for access to the Jersey New Waterworks Company’s books two weeks after announcing their intention to launch a bid.Val de la MareManaging director Mike Liston says when they do, they will consider every alternative to the JNWW’s £50 million capital investment programme for the next decade, which includes extending Val de la Mare.
