Battle funfair moves back to People’s Park
Friday 30th January 2004, 12:00AM GMT.
THE Battle of Flowers funfair in August will take place on the People’s Park instead of the Lower Park on a one-year trial basis.
The St Helier roads committee have agreed to the relocation of the event after the association told them that the Battle’s future depended on their being able to raise enough funds from the funfair. They also took into account safety issues in relation to the funfair being sited on the Lower Park – three people were injured on Victoria Avenue during two of the recent events. As part of the agreement, the parish has agreed to an offer by the association that if they were allowed to relocate the funfair, the hoarding erected along St Aubin’s Road would not be put in place this year.
