States to make changes to information code?

Saturday 31st January 2004, 12:00AM GMT.

TUESDAY’S States sitting will be dominated by a heavy list of questions and by the proposed Code of Practice on Public Access to Official Information.

The Code of Practice, which will be proposed by the Privileges and Procedures Committee, is the subject of an amendment and comments, and Deputy Peter Troy’s proposal for a Register of Reports is also listed for debate. But there are no Personal Statements listed for the sitting, despite Senator Christopher Lakeman’s expected announcement over his future in the States.

Speculation has been mounting that the Senator is to resign, and he said a statement would be made on the floor of the States Chamber at this week’s sitting. It is possible that the statement will be added to the Supplementary Order Paper by the time the Assembly meet.Questions will be asked on the following subjects:A recent advertisement placed by the Health and Social Services in a UK publicationThe awarding of the bus service contractWhen the current data protection legislation will be replacedFunding for the garden restoration at RozelSuicides from car parksThe proposed income support systemParking arrangements for the public sectorThe cost of reports by OxeraThe future of free school milkFinancial returns from the Waterfront Leisure ComplexComments by Housing Committee president Deputy Terry Le Main about the condition of a property
