Cash row at Haut de la Garenne

A STATES project to turn Haut de la Garenne into a residential centre for visiting youth groups has hit financial trouble.
The Tourism Development Fund has been approached in the last fortnight to underwrite expected losses in the first year of £110,000.This was despite a pledge from the former Planning and Environment Committee that the centre could be run without taxpayers’ money.TDF chairman Deputy Lyndon Farnham said: ‘We were wholly unimpressed with the whole scenario.’The request was rejected, and it is possible that Finance will now be approached again for more money.
