Home Affairs to face vote of no confidence

THE Home Affairs Committee is to face a vote of no confidence.

They will be the third to do so, after similar motions were proposed against Housing and Environment and Public Services.The move by Deputy Bob Hill increases the sense of disarray in the States and Policy and Resources president Senator Frank Walker this morning slammed the move as ‘utterly irresponsible’.'This brings the States into further disrepute.

There are a small number of Members who are engaging in poor political practice and they are doing their best to ensure that the States of Jersey is not working effectively and efficiently in the best interests of the Island.’Deputy Hill cites a number of issues as the reason for his discontent at Home Affairs.

He said these include what he contends have been unnecessary delays in implementing the Human Rights Act that was agreed by the States nearly five years ago.
