Island Plan ‘was ignored’
Thursday 5th February 2004, 12:00AM GMT.
STATES Members have shown ‘complete disregard’ for the Island Plan by forcing Planning to consider scaling down a development in St Clement, according to committee president Deputy Maurice Dubras.
I felt that most of the Members, all of whom have received a copy of the plan, probably have not taken very much time to read it,’ said Deputy Dubras. On Tuesday, the States voted 28 to 13 to ask the Environment and Public Services Department to scale down the proposed development in Fields 203, part of 204 and 252.
Current plans are for 79 homes, but the States approved the proposal from Deputy Gerard Baudains to ask Planning to cut that number down to 45.Under the Planning Law, the States cannot override a decision by the committee, but can ask them to revisit it.
