JERSEY Wanderers eased into the last four of the under-16 Eric Amy Cup last night following a 4-0 victory over Division II champions St Brelade.
Sean Cornic notched a brace and and Jamie Cullen and Scott Slicer singles for Division I Wanderers who led by a single goal at half time.Wanderers manager Daryn Noble said: ‘St Brelade gave a fine account of themselves.
They ran away with the Division II title and I think their team would have benefited from playing in a higher division this season.’Both goalkeepers made a couple of good saves each and we took our chances while also shading more of the possession.’Wanderers went ahead in the second minute when Cullen scored with a low drive from an acute angle following a good pass by Ollie Thompson.Scott Slicer made it 2-0 from close range following a mêlée in a goalmouth before Cornic came in with his double to make it 4-0.
Cornic’s opener was a downward header from six yards after a good ball into the penalty from Luke Campbell and his second was a powerful shot from 12 yards giving the Saints’ goalkeeper no chance.Wanderers will meet Rozel Rovers or St Paul’s, both of Division I, in the semi-finals while the other semi is an all-Division II affair between St Martin and Grouville.
