STRIKER Fintan Kennedy scored the only goal of the game last night at Les Quennevais to steer Magpies into the semi-finals of the Le Riches Cup.

In a game of few chances, Kennedy settled the issue with a header just five minutes before half time against Division II St Brelade.

The Saints’ best chance was Liam Sutton’s rising shot that clipped the crossbar before going over the top just before the break.Magpies manager Ian Golding said: ‘It was a poor game, the result was the important thing and we got it.

St Brelade worked hard, they were organised and we found them very difficult to break down.’There were only three chances in the game and Peter Warrell was unlucky not to score a second for us with a header when their goalkeeper made a good save with ten minutes to go.’St Brelade manager Peter Taylor said: ‘We didn’t play well.
