Planning defy States
Friday 13th February 2004, 12:00AM GMT.
THE Planning Committee are defying a States decision asking them to limit development in Jambart Lane to 45 homes because they fear losing a multi-million pound lawsuit.
They agreed at an emergency meeting on Wednesday evening that plans for 76 first-time buyer homes would be approved. The meeting was held to discuss the future of fields 203, 204 and 252 in the wake of Deputy Gerard Baudains 28-13 States victory in favour of throwing out a plan for 79 homes. It was decided that developer Alpine Estates’ application met the requirements of the Island Plan of July 2002, and to oppose it could land the committee in the Royal Court ‘with little chance of success’.
