Friday 13th February 2004, 12:00AM GMT.
ST PETER Football Club are in discussion with the Football Association with a view to playing in the women’s FA Cup for the first time next season.
Club president Tom du Feu confirmed today that plans are well advanced and two officials from St Peter are to travel to meet FA officials and discuss St Peter’s entry for the 2004-2005 season.Du Feu said: ‘We have received an invitation to meet the FA and this will happen early in March.
All the signs are extremely pleasing and it’s a great opportunity to offer our ladies football at a higher level.’It’s not a cheap option but St Peter FC are looking to develop and expand opportunities for all their teams, men, women and juniors.’Should St Peter be accepted one of the criteria would be that they would have to pay the travel costs of visiting clubs. The Saints, ladies champions in Jersey for six of the past seven seasons, would be expected to play a maximum of four matches, two preliminary rounds and rounds one and two, before the professional clubs enter the competition.St Peter would be in the southern region, along with other teams from the east of the country to the west and up as far as Bristol.
