Bracken keeping England door open

Saturday 14th February 2004, 12:00AM GMT.

SCRUM-HALF Kyran Bracken, one of three World Cup rugby stars to be axed by Sir Clive Woodward for this year’s Six Nations tournament, may yet be seen, again, in an England shirt.

Bracken, whose family live in Jersey, told the JEP that he has not given up his hopes of playing for England and that his relationship with Woodward is as good now as it was almost a decade ago – although he won the first of his 50 England caps under former England manager, Geoff Cooke.’I just don’t know what the future has in store for me,’ he said.’I've talked to Clive, and at the moment I’m simply concentrating on playing my rugby.’I'd like to come over to Jersey with the World Cup in April, if that’s possible, but apart from that, I don’t know where my future lies.’I've been lucky in my career, I still enjoy rugby, and I’d like to think at some stage I’ll come back to live in Jersey.’I can’t wait to get back to the beaches, and I feel that Jersey is my home.”But I’ll play for England again, if they ask me to, when I’m both fit and available.’
