DEMI Golf Society’s John Lord Shield, played under the Stableford format at St Clement’s on Saturday, was won by Toni Rowles with 37 points off a handicap of 18.
Gary Parsons was second with 36 points off a 12 handicap and third was Joe Straiton with 32 points off a handicap of ten.

In the Major Cup semi-final RWB reversed the results of their league match against Caesareans last week to win 6-3.SHOOTINGThe new Jersey Pistol Association championship was decided on the last shot with Mike Quénault the winner after he beat reigning champion Dave Ward by 0.3 of a point.
Quénault finished with a total of 643.8 pts and the Mo Gotel Perpetual Trophy.
Ward finished with 643.5 pts and a former champion, Allan Quénault, was third with 633.1.

There was a rare and welcome appearance by 69 year-old Mike Stafford who represented Jersey in the 1958 British Empire and Commonwealth Games, he finished in a time of 27.01min (net).
ATHLETICSThe Channel Islands U13 girls won the regional championships in Portsmouth yesterday and therefore qualified once again to compete in the national final at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham in April.
This team finished in second place in Birmingham in 2003.
Yesterday they totalled 578 points with Oxfordshire a distant second with 542.
The other three Channel Islands teams – predominantly made up of Jersey athletes – finished in second place in their categories.
The U-13 boys trailed the Isle of Wight 645 points to 588 and the U-15 boys saw Hampshire take the honours with 600 points to Channel Islands 569.
The U-15 girls were most unlucky to lose out to Hampshire by a mere 10 points, 605 to 595.
Last year Stephen Prosser was the highest points scorer amongst all the U-15 boys, yesterday Paul Dingle followed suit and he will accompany the younger girls to Birmingham for the national finals.
SWIMMINGThe Jersey Swimming Club Championships 800m freestyle competition held yesterday brought another clutch of new records across the age-groups.
In the 11-year-old boys section Elliot Sweet beat the record set by Damien Boucheré in 1993, in a vastly-improved time of 11.18.66 while in the 12-year-old girls section Rebecca Le Maistre swam to a time of 10.41.07.
In the senior event Antoin Le Fèvre produced another highly impressive, consistently-paced swim and again went inside a Simon Abels club record set in 1990, when he recorded a time of 9.02.62 which was 27 seconds inside his previous best time.SHOOTINGWinner of Class A and High Gun in the Crabbé Clay Pigeon Club 50 bird sporting shoot yesterday was Jon de la Haye with 48 ex 50.

The other two Leonis boxers, Dave Lund (super heavyweight) and Les Bulpin (featherweight), conesting the final and semi-final of their respective divisions, encountered problems in their bouts.
Both men lost, Lund’s initial win being reversed when the referee overturned the result while Bulpin, who certainly looked to have won, was the loser according to the computerised scoring system.GOLFWinner of the handicap trophy in the Jersey Western GC’s Price Cup Par competition yesterday was 15-year-old Martin Mitchell with a nett result of six against the course.
Geoff Laffoley won the scratch prize with a result of four down against the course.MOTORSPORTThe A route winner in the Jersey Classic and Modern Trials Club trial at Beaumont on Saturday was Mac du Feu and Graham du Feu won the B route.
C route winner was Jon Poignand while the Twin-shock class was won by Gary White.
Winner of the Junior A was Adam Le Cheminant; Daniel Jeanne was Junio B winner and Daniel Williams won the Junior small-wheel.SQUASHMike Hopkins beat reigning champion Rob Hickling 3-0 to take the men’s title in the Insurance Corporation Jersey Closed Squash championship last night while in the ladies final Kate Cadigan also beat the reigning champ, Ronnie Jubb, 3-2 in a very hard-fought and excellent match which went to 10-8 in the fifth set.
Men’s B winner was Mark Baudet who beat Dave Le Cornu in straight sets while in the Men’s Veterans final Hugh Jones continued his reign as champion, beating Allen Brown 3-1.
In the Men’s Vintage final Martin Scriven beat Barry Middleton 3-1.GOLFLa Moye GC Junior Par competition was held yesterday with K Goodricke top with a score of 3 off his 16 handicap; P de Gruchy was second, with 0 off a 7 handicap and JJ Ozard third with -1 off a handicap of 19.MOTORSPORTWinners in the Jersey Motor Cycle and Light Car Club rally trial yesterday were as follows: Adult A and winner of the Rally Cup, Glen Hamel; B, John Renouf; C, Nigel Pallot, Twin-shock, Gary White.
In the Junior sections the B winner was James Dilks; Adam Le Cheminant won the C and Christopher Vibert the D.SAILINGAllen Brown and partners The Dogs was first across the line and took line honours in Class 0 in Race 1 of the 2004 South Pier Marine and leisure series.
Class 1 winner was Dave Williams and partners Super Q and in Class 2 the winner was James Gaudin in Twilight.
