President expected to resign

DEPUTY Maurice Dubras is expected to announce his resignation from the Environment and Public Services Committee before tomorrow’s vote of no confidence.
The Deputy met members of his committee on Friday afternoon and is understood to have offered his resignation before the vote takes place.
If he resigns as president, the committee will fall and an election will be held at the following sitting to elect a new president and committee.
Deputy Dubras declined to comment this morning.The Environment and Public Services Committee are due to face a motion of no confidence proposed by Senator Ted Vibert.
It centres on the cost of the bus service to the Island and to a payment of £187,000 paid by the committee to bus operators Connex to cover a shift allowance agreed by previous operators Jersey Bus.
