ROZEL ROVERS moved closer to flybe.

Combination Division I safety last night following a victory over bottom-team Sporting Academics at Springfield.

Rovers, who had Andy McCabe sent off in the 80th minute following two cautions, were cruising 3-0 at half time but with just seven minutes of the second half gone they rocked a bit as the Accies pulled back two goals. However, Jerry O’Shea’s side regained their composure to pull away again and finish 5-2 winners leaving them still in the second relegation position but now just two points behind St Peter, who have played a game more. But Rozel’s run-in looks tougher than the Saints as they have to play both Trinity and Jersey Wanderers twice as well as Jersey Scottish, Portuguese and First Tower.O’Shea said: ‘It’s a hard run-in but we seem to play better against better opposition.

Last night we were disappointing, Accies are struggling and we played at their level.’The points were the most important thing and we took them.

First half we were far too eager and I’ve never seen so many offsides against us.’Accies did well to get back to 3-2 but I was always confident we were going to win because we had three quick forwards and it was just a case of them timing their runs.’Marco Vieira and Ben Doherty both scored twice for Rozel after defender Jan Ulvin fired them ahead after 15 minutes.Fifteen-year-old Sean Doran showed great composure to score Accies’ opener, after good play between Keith Carthy and Toni Cardoso, by taking the ball around goalkeeper Frazer Siddall.

Cardoso then added a penalty that Siddall did well to get a hand to.Accies manager Tommy Kyle said: ‘I thought we deserved something, we put a lot of effort in last night.

We played with a lot of pride in the second half and that was good to see.’Kyle added that he was pleased with his juniors who played.

Goalkeeper Matt Caboz, on his first-team début, had no chance with the goals while Doran and Ollie Lucas both impressed despite having played three games in four days and four games in five days respectively.Sporting Academics: Matt Caboz; Mark Knight, Chris Coates, Paul Morin, Jamie Maher; Ollie Lucas, Paul Lennon, Dave Baker, Keith Carthy, Sean Doran; Toni Cardoso.
