Football:Saints profit from own goal to reach cup final

ST PAUL’S came from a goal down at half-time to beat Magpies by the odd-goal in three last night to reach the flybe.

Combination Le Riches Cup final.

Magpies can count themselves slightly unfortunate as they squandered some good chances on an bumpy Les Quennevais surface as well as contributing to both the goals they conceded.Defender Fintan Kennedy poked the ball away only for it to come straight back at him and as he turned to play it again he tripped John Beatson to concede a penalty.Lee Bradshaw converted it for St Paul’s equaliser and then Mark Holley, under pressure from Steve Cumming, headed the ball into his own goal for what turned out to be St Paul’s match-winner.Stuart Truscott scored for Magpies in the first half.Full details in today’s JEP, on sale at 1.15 pm.
