Former Senator denies conflict of interest
Thursday 19th February 2004, 12:00AM GMT.
FORMER Senator Pierre Horsfall has denied that he has a conflict of interest which should stop him becoming chairman of the Waterfront Enterprise Board.
He is Policy and Resources’ favoured candidate from five applicants but some States Members claim his directorship of the company trying to develop the waterfront hotel should bar him from the £20,000-a-year job.Mr Horsfall says he made it clear while being interviewed by the Appointments Commission that he would resign the non-executive directorship.
More than that, he would take no interest in discussions about the hotel.Mr Horsfall says he resigned from the company when his proposed appointment was confirmed and wrote to the chairman of Jersey Waterfront Hotel Holdings Ltd, saying: ‘I would not, as chairman of WEB, participate in decisions that affected the commercial relationship between WEB and the hotel holding company.’
