Town Centenier investigation
Thursday 19th February 2004, 12:00AM GMT.
A SUSPENDED St Helier Centenier claims that he is being victimised because his stance on the Holland affair left him labelled a troublemaker.
Taxi driver Christopher Gray caused his own suspension after failing to report for duty last Friday and is now the subject of a States police investigation ordered by the Attorney General. He has been involved in a year-long dispute with the Constable, Simon Crowcroft, over his refusal to formally name Mr Gray as the parish’s Chef de Police.Mr Gray says that as the longest-serving Centenier, he should be appointed to the position and claims that he is the victim of a personal vendetta.
Mr Crowcroft declined to comment, saying he was unable to do so while the police investigation was being carried out.
