FIFTEEN-year-old Jersey hockey player Jamey Herbert has been called up to join the full U16 England hockey side to compete in the Four Nations championship in Berlin over Easter.

She has been to several assessments in the last few months and got into the training squad early this year with her call-up to the team coming just two days ago.’She is delighted to have been selected, but she is a self-effacing girl so says little about it,’ her mother Shelagh said.Jamey, younger sister of full England international Beckie, has recently had a tough four-day training session in Loughborough, and she next returns to the UK for the holding camp at Belle Vue Manchester, immediately before the competition in Berlin.A regular member of the JWHA team which competes in Division II of the men’s league, Jamey is also a regular player for E & Y Quackers in Division I of the Jersey women’s hockey league and, a pupil at JCG, she also plays in the school team.
