Parishes to lose their Deputies?

THE parish link to Deputies would be severed under plans that could go to the States.

Under proposals which are being considered by the Privileges and Procedures Committee, it is possible that between four and six ‘super-constituencies’ would be created for States Members.Senators would go, and Deputies would be linked to constituencies representing (for example) town, the west, the east and the north of the Island.The plans nearly went before the States under the previous committee, but were stalled at the last minute.

The new president of the committee, Deputy Roy Le Hérissier, says that he is determined to have firm proposals before the States by the summer recess.
