Crime falls again
Tuesday 24th February 2004, 12:00AM GMT.
FIGURES for reported crime have fallen for the third year in a row.
The 2003 annual report of the States police shows that levels of burglary, car and bicycle theft and grave assaults all fell when compared with 2002.On the other hand, twice the number of major drug dealers were caught and tried in 2003 and twice the weight of drugs was seized.
And in a league of 46 constabularies across Britain, the Jersey force was judged the third best at solving crimes. The report also shows how the force has moved to make cutbacks and how it spent around £500,000 less than its allocated budget of £20,101,072 in 2003.
