Landscape art to fly the flag for 1204
Saturday 29th May 2004, 12:00AM BST.
ISLANDERS are being invited to join in a unique community project to transform a Gorey cāštil into a dramatic backdrop for the Jersey Revels.
In two weeks artist Ian Rolls wants people of all ages to help him create the 1204-2004 Flag of Flags.
They will be required to make 3,208 flags – 1204 plus 2004 – to form a giant version of the logo of the 800th anniversary celebrations of the Island’s links to the Crown.
The chairman of the 1204-2004 celebrations, Nigel Quérée said: ‘The idea is inspirational.
Making it happen will be another hugely enjoyable community effort, hopefully as successful as the tree planting at St Catherine in January.
Magnificent ‘The Flag of Flags will be a magnificent backdrop to the Jersey Revels which will take place at Gorey from 25 to 27 June and it will stay in place during the summer.’
