Monday 5th July 2004, 12:00AM BST.
ST MICHAEL’S schoolboy Ben De Figueiredo hit an undefeated 105 on Saturday in a winning draw against Grace Dieu at the school’s pitch at Five Oaks.
The 13-year-old opener helped the Jersey school to a winning draw after hitting 14 boundaries.
He was at the crease for 75 minutes as St Michael’s closed their 25 overs on 232 for four wickets.
St Michael’s teacher Stuart Wheeldon said: ‘It was an excellent knock, Ben played some real quality shots.
He set himself targets as he went along and he achieved them.
He had excellent support from Oliver Tett and Daniel McAviney, Oliver scored 62 before he was caught and Daniel finished undefeated on 27.
Ben’s ton came up in the best possible way with a boundary while on 92 he played a cheeky reverse sweep for another four.’ It was the first century scored in matches between the schools in 22 years, Grace Dieu hanging on at 48 for 8 at the close after one time being three wickets down for just five runs.
