We’re in great shape, says P&R president
Thursday 8th July 2004, 12:00AM BST.
A DAY after being booed by 1,000 protesters in the Royal Square, Senator Frank Walker has delivered an upbeat message to an appreciative business audience.
The warm applause for the Policy and Resources president’s ‘go out and grab success’ speech to the Chamber of Commerce yesterday was in stark contrast to the angry scenes and shouts of ‘Walker out’ in the square on Tuesday morning.
He told the 230 business people present that this week’s approval of the Strategic Plan and the Fiscal Policy had set the scene for the Island’s economic recovery and future prosperity.
He insisted he was ‘no cock-eyed optimist’ but said: ‘I firmly believe that we are in a better position now than ever before to meet the challenges and drive the Island forward.
‘Let’s have nothing more to do with pessimism.
Let’s have confidence and reach out and grab it.
I believe that we are in great shape.’
