18 jobs under threat as charity fights for funds

EIGHTEEN full and part-time staff at Aids charity Acet Jersey are facing redundancy.

The charity’s trustees are threatening to close it down at the end of this month unless the States pledge an extra £95,000 for next year – at present the States put in £83,000.

However, the Bailiff has already intervened on its behalf and the Health president has also said he is hopeful of finding the money.

Acet is a church-based organisation which aims to reduce the spread of HIV and Aids but in recent years has widened its role by providing education and training to the Portuguese community.
