Inquiry into Trinity infill site under way
Tuesday 13th July 2004, 12:00AM BST.
THE inquiry into the Trinity landfill site began its public stage this morning.
Solicitor Carol Canavan , who is heading it, will get the chance to question both Deputy Terry Le Main, who sat on the sub-committee which gave the controversial scheme the go-ahead, and the director of Planning, Peter Thorne.
The hearings are being held today because both men are away next week, when the first public hearings were scheduled.
Work on the scheme – which would see an estimated 10,000 lorry loads of rubble and sub-soil being tipped onto five agricultural fields – has yet to commence because of the furore surrrounding the planning process.
