Baywatch doctor to the rescue

Monday 19th July 2004, 12:00AM BST.

DR Carl Clinton was the hero of the Sark to Jersey rowing race on Saturday, featuring in the winning Men’s Open Fours team – breaking the Sark-to-Jersey record for that event – and earlier having come to the aid of a holidaymaker who had collapsed on a beach in Sark.

The spectator is believed to have had a stroke and was rowed from Dixcart beach to a boat, then on to a lifeboat and then to the Elizabeth Hospital in Guernsey.

Dr Clinton went to the man’s aid, and went on to be part of the winning Men’s Open Fours (sliding seats) team Crusade Laboratories, along with James Ramsden, Simon Young, Ian Blandin and Mic Tréhorel, that set a new Sark-to-Jersey record time.
