Bands are back at the Battle of Flowers

Wednesday 21st July 2004, 12:00AM BST.

THE bands are back for the Battle of Flowers this year.

The Battle of Flowers Association are trying to put the carnival atmosphere back into the annual parade as part of a revamp of the Island’s biggest attraction.

After a break of five years, the Bournemouth Carnival Band will play in the arena.

Also returning are the drummers Street Heat.

Others that will feature in the two-hour parade include a 55-piece Dutch band named Euroband Rotterdam, the New Orleans jazz-style performers Dixie Blue Band, and the 1066 Pipes and Drum Band.

A visiting Scout group marching band from Coventry will be joined by the Jersey Scout Band while local stalwarts the Band of the Island of Jersey will lead the parade.
