Soccer League officials to discuss resumption of Sunday football
Thursday 22nd July 2004, 12:00AM BST.
JERSEY Soccer League officials are having a meeting next week to discuss the possible return of Sunday afternoon league football.
The JSL suspended activity for the 2003/04 season because of a lack of officials to deal with the league’s administration.
A caretaker committee was formed at the time of the suspension and this committee and interested parties are meeting on Friday week to assess the current situation.
Caretaker committee member Alan Phillips said: ‘I’ve had several outside people and clubs that currently exist wanting to know what is going on.
‘A meeting has been called for Friday week at the Caesarea Hotel in Cattle Street.
If ten clubs are interested the Jersey Soccer League may get up and running again but the major problem throughout has been a lack of officials and if no one is prepared to help with the administration then the current situation may remain unchanged.’
