Les Pas site sold to Dandara
Saturday 24th July 2004, 12:00AM BST.
DEVELOPERS Dandara have bought the highly controversial Les Pas site on the St Helier waterfront for a sum which is close to £10 million.
They are now promising that a prestige mixed development of residential, retail and leisure involving ‘world-class’ architects and designers will be built on a site which they believe ‘has the possibility of becoming the finest marine development in Europe’.
The area was at the centre of a political storm last year when a deal was done for the States to gift the site valued at £10m to Les Pas Holdings in return for the company dropping its legal claim to ownership of the whole of the St Helier foreshore.
Dandara managing director Martin Clancy said that the development of the site would be a joint venture with another local company named Marine Developments.
‘We are absolutely delighted to be involved with the waterfront, which we believe has the possibility of being the best marine development in Europe,’ he said.
