Everything in St Helier’s gardens is still lovely…
Monday 26th July 2004, 12:00AM BST.
FLOWER power in St Helier is as strong as ever – it was named on Friday as Best Parish in Bloom yet again.
Second prize in the competition, organised by Jersey Tourism, went to the parish of St Saviour, followed by the parish of St Peter in third place.
Winners of the same award in 2003, the parish of St Helier impressed judges – gardening expert Carole Baxter from Scotland and local landscape architect Bruce Labey – not only with its floral excellence but also some specific community ventures.
At the Museum on Friday evening, St Helier’s co-ordinators, Tony Andrews from the parish Parks and Gardens Department and voluntary floral co-ordinator Sue Rodrigues, were present to hear the judges’ commendation.
