Too hot to handle

TWENTY charity firewalkers have become hobblers after burning their feet so badly that they needed treatment in Accident and Emergency.
Doctors and nurses have now got used to seeing Islanders who decided to walk over red-hot coals for Breakthrough Breast Cancer at Ransom’s Garden Centre on Friday.
One in three of the 60 volunteers from businesses across the Island ended up in hospital.
Risk of injury A poster for the event said: ‘Willing volunteers need not fear for their safety, as the fiery challenge will take place under the guidance of an experienced firewalker, who will mentally prepare the participants for the big event.’
