Constable backs scheme for a supermarket at Westmount
Wednesday 28th July 2004, 12:00AM BST.
PLANS for a new supermarket and sheltered housing are being considered for Westmount quarry.
St Helier Constable Simon Crowcroft wants to franchise the parish site, which is currently lying idle, and a plan is being formulated by a UK developer.
A supermarket along with sheltered housing and parking for vans and lorries is the Constable’s ideal combination of uses.
The site has been unused since a rockfall in 2000 forced the parish to relocate its refuse collection operation and stonemason road gangs from Westmount to Mont à l’Abbé.
