Sark gears up for a battle over Brecqhou

SARK appears to be heading for another battle with its billionaire neighbours
The owners of nearby Brecqhou, Sir David and Sir Frederick Barclay, are unhappy about a proposed law that Sark’s assembly, Chief Pleas, agreed yesterday to forge ahead with.
If approved, the law will give Sark power to regulate commercial activity in its territorial waters, which includes the shoreline of the Barclays’ island.
But the owners of the Daily Telegraph and the London Ritz maintain that Brecqhou’s port and foreshore should be exempt from the law as they do not believe that their island falls within Sark’s jurisdiction.
